French with Islam
This past week, we have been shocked by the news about France which is said to be "war" against Islam. What made a scene was when President Macron issued a statement that "Islam is a religion that is in crisis all over the world today". This statement has caused Muslims in various countries to get angry immediately, even to demonstrations everywhere.
So why did President Macron speak like that?
It all started with the magazine "Charlie Hebdo" which decided to re-publish the cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad, one day before the trial of 14 terror suspects in 2015. There was a protest at the magazine's old office.
On October 26, 2020, a history teacher named Samuel Paty was found murdered by teenage immigrants. It is known that Samuel Paty taught a class about freedom of expression by taking the example of the Prophet Muhammad's cartoon.
The cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad can be very offensive to Muslims because in Islamic teachings it prohibits the drawing of Muhammad and Allah.
But according to Makron, the murder case of a history teacher was an attack by Islamic terrorists. This is what makes Muslims around the world angry at the French president's statement.
It came to a time when products from France were boycotted in various countries, especially countries that are predominantly Muslim.
How about Indonesia?
The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) issued an appeal to Indonesian Muslims to boycott all products from France. In addition to the boycott, MUI also asked French President Emmanuel Macron to retract his words and apologize to Muslims around the world. "The MUI considers that Macron has indirectly supported the Islamphobia movement."
The call for a boycott of MUI was sent through a statement letter Number: Kep-1823 / DP-MUI / X / 2020 dated October 30, 2020. "MUI expressed its attitude and appealed to Indonesian Muslims and the world to boycott all products originating from France," that is wrong. one sound statement in the letter.
The following are French products boycotted in Indonesia.
Danone, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Garnier, Lacost, L'Oreal, Lancôme, Cartier, Kraft, L'oréal, Carrefour, SFR, Orange, Peugeot, Chanel, AXA, Accor, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Céline, Balenciaga, Mont Blanc, and Hermes.
